Visa & Entry Requirements

UPDATE ON VISA ENTRY & REQUIREMENT (21 July 2023)

HOW TO APPLY FOR AN INDIAN CONFERENCE VISA

These guidelines apply to all conference attendees as well as accompanying guests. We encourage you to apply early for a conference visa.

To attend the 36th LAWASIA Conference 2023 all international attendees will require a conference visa. Other categories of visa are not recognised for attending the conference.

  1. Register for the conference (enter your passport details when prompted during the registration process)
  2. On registering successfully, the host organisation, the Bar Association of India, will issue a letter of invitation and documentation to assist you with your visa application.

Please allow some time for the organisers to issue your visa confirmation letter. Only those whose registration fee has been received in full will be issued a letter.

Please note:
A conference visa may be obtained through the electronic visa process or through a physical process, depending on the jurisdiction of the applicant.    CLICK HERE to view the list of countries eligible for the e-visa process. Generally, the time for processing an e-visa is two weeks. However, since this process may take longer, we encourage you to register early for the conference and apply for the conference e-visa well ahead of your travel.

Delegates from countries that are not on the e-visa list, must apply physically for a conference visa from the Indian Embassy / Consulate / High Commission by submitting the passport. As India is the host of various international events pertaining to G-20 etc, there may be a rush of applications for visas and processing may take time. Those applying physically should submit their completed applications at least two months in advance of the travel dates for the conference.

For any further assistance, please email the Bar Association of India at: [email protected]

While the Bar Association of India will extend all help, the decisions to grant a visa rest with the Government of India.

Visa application is the sole responsibility of the participant and the LAWASIA Secretariat is unable to provide visa advice.
